An immediate denture is what it says. It is placed immediately after the teeth have been extracted. It cannot and will not function or feel like a denture placed over healed oral tissue. It does provide a certain amount of function and esthetics for the patient. About 5 months after receiving your immediate, the dentures will have to be rebased, relined or a new denture will have to be made.
There is no such thing as a “permanent” as your mouth will continue to change shape. Well-made dentures can last you 6 to 11 years, but they may need to be adjusted depending on the healing process.
The Benefits of Dental and Partial Dentures
If you want functioning teeth again, we encourage you to learn more about the benefits of dentures and partial dentures. The most important benefit is that you will have a set of fully functioning teeth that look realistic and feel natural in your mouth. Modern day dentures and partial dentures are more attractive and natural-looking than ever before. They also fit much more comfortably than they once did. Look no further!
Dental Denture Comfort
Dentures have a much more comfortable fit than those created a decade ago. The older dentures get, the looser they may fit due to the changes that take place in a patient’s dental structure. If you have older dentures, it may be time for you to look into receiving the more beneficial and modern dentures we offer. Technology has advanced even in the last five years, and new, more biocompatible materials are being used to create dentures that are vastly more comfortable. Our dentures also fit more securely, so you never need to worry about irritation from dentures that slide around while in use.
Life Improvement from Dentures
Not only are the new materials used in dentures more durable and comfortable, but they are also more realistic-looking. When you get dentures, you will look younger and more attractive. The loss of teeth tends to make faces look sunken in or saggy. Replacing the emptiness with our quality dentures and partial dentures leads to a shapelier face and more defined features that look more youthful and healthy. When you are missing teeth, any remaining teeth and your gums will begin to shift out of their correct position. This hinders eating and smiling. To help maintain a proper jawbone structure and remaining gums, visit our office for dentures.
Immediate protect the tissues at the sensitive extraction sites from irritation which might result from the tongue and food. This can mean less discomfort for you than with conventional denture construction. Immediate dentures can enable you to establish your speech patterns more easily. You do not have to learn to speak without teeth and then re-learn once dentures are made.
With immediate you can chew better than you could without teeth during the normal waiting period for conventional dentures. If they do not replace the natural teeth within a short time, the cheeks tend to fall in. If you remain without teeth for some time, you may develop oral habits that will interfere with your ability to learn how to use them properly.
